Mira Devi's journey into the healing and contemplative arts began about 25 ago when she made the decision to move into Shoshoni Yoga Retreat, an ashram in the mountains above Boulder, CO. Meditation, Yoga, Ayurveda, Kirtan (devotional chanting), meal preparation, bodywork therapies... all became part of each day of practice and seva, or selfless service, at the ashram. During the course of ten years of service at Shoshoni, Mira became a certified yoga instructor, yoga teacher trainer, meditation instructor, lead spa therapist, and staff manager. She also dove into the study of Ayurveda, spending many days preparing Ayurvedic meals, as well as offering Ayurvedic therapies and lifestyle guidelines to retreat guests. A lifelong musician, Mira flourished as a chant and kirtan leader, and wrote numerous chants, many of which were recorded on cds with the ashram band, Shiva's Garden. After moving back to Boulder, Mira attended the Colorado School of Healing Arts in Lakewood, CO. She also completed numerous continuing education seminars with Dr Vasant Lad at the renowned Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, NM. For the past five years, Mira has worked closely with Dr. Nita Desai as an Ayurvedic and Pancha Karma therapist. At Dr. Desai's Louisville based clinic she offers many Ayurvedic therapies for body/mind and supports people through the powerful Pancha Karma cleansing process. For the past ten years, Mira has also served families as a Postpartum Doula. She was fortunate to mentor with Ysha Oakes in the art of Ayurvedic postpartum meals and massage for new mothers. Mira is a certified Ayurvedic Lifestyle Counselor through the Austin based Narayana Ayurveda and Yoga Academy (NAYA). When not working with Dr Desai, she spends her time growing 'Soul Spa', her private integrative healing practice out of Soul Tree Yoga in Lafayette. She supports clients in finding balance through western and eastern bodymind therapies, educational lifestyle sessions , and embodied Ayurveda yoga workshops. Soul Spa is the culmination of twenty years in the healing and contemplative arts.
